CALABASAS, Calif. (March 24, 2006) — Tire Recall Registry (TRR) Inc., which provides on-line tire registry via its Web site, has added a feature to allow tire dealers to record consumer and tire information over their PDAs—personal digital assistants such as Palm Pilots, cell phones and Internet tablets.
“We know that not every dealer has a computer….,” said the company's CEO, Paul Stansen, in a prepared statement. “We have eliminated the laborious burden of manually filling out postcards into a new and better realm, whatever electronic device our clients choose.”
The California-based firm offers electronic tire registration over the Internet via the Web site www.tirerecallregistry.com.
“Once dealers sign up with TRR, a process that takes about three to four minutes,” Mr. Stansen said, “their dealer information is registered and never has to be entered again. With the account set up, dealers can begin registering tires over their computer and, if they wish, over cellular telephones or (PDAs).”
These devices access the 128-bit SSL secured TRR Web site, he added, so that data passed to the company's nationwide database is confidential. “With PDA logon Web addresses, users enjoy visually optimized Web pages that work best for the handheld devices” because they are less graphically intense, Mr. Stansen said.
Once information is transmitted to TRR, the company e-mails a Certificate of Tire Registration to the customer, or a dealer can print one over the wireless network.
