ADDISON, Ill. (March 23, 2006) — Shock absorber manufacturer KYB Corp. is supplying shocks to select Honda, Lexus and Toyota hybrid vehicles.
With growing concern about the environment and vehicle manufacturers under increasing pressure to develop vehicles for tomorrow's world, a number of vehicles using hybrid technology has been launched recently around the globe, Addison-based KYB said.
The company, which claims it is the world's largest supplier of original equipment (OE) shock absorbers, is supplying OE shocks for the Honda Civic, Lexus RX330h, and Toyota's Prius, Previa and Camry models.
“As an environmentally conscious organization,” said Mike Howarth, senior vice president of KYB America, “KYB is delighted to be supporting the manufacturers of these technologically advanced vehicles with innovative, high quality components.”
Hybrids— first seen in 1997—combine an electric motor with a gasoline engine to reduce pollution as well as reduce a vehicle's running cost by cutting fuel consumption.
KYB, a $2.5 billion global hydraulics manufacturer with more than 8,100 employees, sells its products in more than 100 countries. Those include a full range of domestic and import shocks and struts for the North American aftermarket.
