SEBRING, Fla. (March 22, 2006) — Kumho Tire USA Inc. is helping promote the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and its participation in it through the Kumho Petit Le Mans Xperience Sweepstakes, a consumer contest offering an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2007 Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
The sweepstakes, which runs through Oct. 31, is being promoted by nearly 4,000 Kumho retailers across the U.S., Kumho said. Consumers also can sign up at any ALMS race and on the Kumho Web site, www.kumhotireusa.com.
The grand prize is a trip for two to the 2007 Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, including airfare, accommodations at the Chateau Elan Winery and Resort and VIP tickets to the 10-hour, 1,000-mile race.
In addition to the grand prize, Kumho will award 10 sets of Kumho Ecsta SPT ultra-high-performance tires as first place prizes, MP3 players to 100 second place winners and Kumho travel bags to 1,000 third place winners.
“We've committed to the (ALMS) as a participant and a sponsor for at least two more years, and now we want to get our dealers involved in the series,” said Mike Leverington, marketing director for Kumho Tire USA. “We brought some dealers to Series races last year, and they were thrilled with what they saw. The ALMS provided great exposure for the Kumho brand, and our success on the track was a testament to the quality and performance capabilities of our tires.”
Kumho is a sponsor of and supplies tires to Miracle Motorsports, which campaigns a Courage C65 in the ALMS's LMP2 category. The team was the series runner-up last year in its first year on Kumho tires.
“KUMHO is an example of the type of world-class partner the American Le Mans Series continues to attract,” said ALMS president Scott Atherton. “Kumho has made a commitment to compete at the highest level of professional sports car racing, and we look forward to working with them to build their brand awareness and provide them with an unmatched return on their Series investment.
