MASSILLON, Ohio (March 16, 2006) — Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. Ltd. has outfitted its new tire plant in White, Ga., with tire testing machinery from Standards Testing Laboratories Inc. (STL), according to the Massillon-based testing facility and machinery maker.
STL has been involved with tire testing for Toyo Tire for several years but said this is the first testing machinery order it has filled for Toyo.
Specifically, STL provided four radial fatigue test machines, a plunger machine and a bead unseat machine. The value was not disclosed.
The equipment features “linear way” design and PLC/computer controls, and is designed to test to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 109, 119 and 139; and Economic Commission for Europe standards 30 and 54.
Toyo selected STL based on quality, price and its role as a consultant to Toyo and its employees, according to Bryce Hudson, head of STL's FM Machinery Division.
STL operates one of the world´s largest independent testing facility for tires, wheels and related automotive components in Massillon. Through its four divisions, STL provides the rubber and automotive industries with dynamic laboratory testing, static and physical testing, fleet testing, test machines, specialized photographic and video services and consulting services.
