IRVINE, Calif. (Feb. 10, 2006) — The new format for the 2006 XM Satellite Radio Hot Import Nights (HIN) season kicks off Feb. 25 at the San Jose (Calif.) Convention Center.
Dubbed the “ultimate custom car festival,” the event is sponsored by Action Media and will run from 5 p.m. to midnight. HIN promoters said the new format “celebrates all elements of youth culture,” with competitions in several youth lifestyle scenes including several types of dance competitions, a year-long “Miss HIN” pageant with winners in 13 cities, video game tournaments, DJ competitions and “the ultimate custom car contest.”
Motorsports team D1 Grand Prix USA will bring its fleet of drift cars to San Jose before they hit the track March 4 at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway. Returning sponsor Valvoline will present “Super Street Cars on Tour” with the BRS Time Attack FD, Tein Wide Body Civic and C West Carbon Fiber S2000, the show sponsors said.
HIN provides visitors glimpses of the “hottest, trendiest cars in the customized world, straight from the pages of the top tuner magazines,” according to Action Media.
A number of tire makers have a presence at the year-long HIN tour, which visits 20 cities coast to coast, ending Dec 16 at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami. More information on HIN can be found at www.hotimportnights.com.
