NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 3, 2006) — Two years after the pivotal Assurance tire launch and on the heels of today´s Eagle Featuring ResponsEdge Technology introduction, Goodyear executives said they have now rounded out their product lineups with a special technology tire in each major segment.
The lineup of Assurance Featuring TripleTred Technology for broadline, Assurance Featuring ComforTred for luxury, Wrangler and Fortera with SilentArmor and Fortera with TripleTred for light trucks and the new Eagle tire for performance is an important marketing achievement, said Larry Mason, president of consumer tires.
While Assurance was not the only factor that Goodyear had banked its turnaround on, it has proved to be a vital one, giving the tire maker the confidence to pursue the subsequent products, executives said.
But Mr. Mason said new products have not been the only avenue for Goodyear to accomplish its turnaround goals, and the company continues to work on other areas of its business.
"We can´t just new-item our way to the success Jon (Rich, president of North American Tire) has talked about," he told Tire Business.
