SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 30, 2006) — Al Cohn, a longtime commercial tire expert for Goodyear, has left the company to join Pressure Systems International (PSI) in the newly created position of director of new market development and engineering support.
Mr. Cohn joins PSI after 28 years with Akron-based Goodyear where he established himself as a specialist in shaping industry protocol as it relates to tire development and other issues relating to tire use and wear, according to a prepared statement from PSI.
PSI makes and markets automatic tire inflation systems through ArvinMeritor Inc. as the Meritor Tire Inflation System by PSI. ArvinMeritor supplies axle-braking and suspension systems solutions worldwide as original equipment for medium and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, buses, coaches and specialty vehicles.
Mr. Cohn is a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he received a degree in chemical engineering. He belongs to a number of industry organizations and received a “Silver Spark Plug” designation by the American Trucking Association's Technology and Maintenance Council (TMC).
PSI President Tim Musgrave said the firm was pleased to have Mr. Cohn join its team, noting he “will give PSI even more knowledge of how proper tire inflation affects tire wear, fuel economy and overall cost per mile for trucking fleets and will help us provide solutions to worldwide markets.”
Mr. Cohn said that “with my background in tire development, I understand the importance automatic tire inflation systems can have on overall tire cost to a commercial fleet, so taking the next step in my career by joining the world leader in this product category is a challenge I look forward to.”
He lives with his wife and two sons in Canton, Ohio.
