Buettner gets TIA state exec post
BOWIE, Md.-The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has named John Buettner, executive director of the Indiana/Illinois Tire Dealers Association, chairman of the TIA state executive directors.
Mr. Buettner will serve as the primary contact between state executive directors and TIA regarding meetings, program content and speakers.
Mr. Buettner, a 40-year tire industry veteran, became involved in industry associations in 1983 when he joined the former National Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (NTDRA) as technical retread consultant for the northeast U.S. In 1992 he became director of the Tire Retreading Institute, the retread arm of NTDRA. In 1997 he became vice president of training and technical services for the former Tire Association of North America (TANA). During this time, he also became executive director of the Indiana Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association, which merged with the Illinois association.
In 2001 he became vice president of tire services for TANA and retained the position when TANA merged with the International Tire & Rubber Association in 2002, forming TIA.
ASA opens board election voting
BEDFORD, Texas-The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has opened voting for election of its 2006 national board of directors.
All regular ASA members can cast votes for candidates, through Feb. 28, by calling a toll-free phone number, (800) 868-3272, or through secure voting accessed via ASA's Web site at www.asashop.org. To vote, ASA members will need their member number plus a three-digit security code. Members who have questions about the voting procedure can call the ASA at (800) 272-7467.
The voting line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Candidate bios and audio campaign messages also are available on the group's Web site. One general director position and the positions of mechanical division director and collision division director are up for election.
Official candidates for the general director position are: Ben K. Steinman, owner of Ben's Auto Body Inc. in Mexico, Mo.; Daniel S. Guido, owner of Tony's Service Center Inc. in Phoenix; and Thomas D. Layman, owner of Multistate Transmissions in Waterford, Mich.
Earl Dohner, owner of E&E's Garage in Brookville, Ohio, is running for the mechanical division director position.
All regular members in good standing are eligible to vote for the general director position, ASA said. Only members of the collision and mechanical divisions separately can elect the positions of division director.
