JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 13, 2006) — Lewis Wexler Jr. was unanimously approved by the board of directors of Free Service Tire Co. to become president, effective Jan. 1.
He is the third generation of the family to run the 87-year-old dealership. For the past 10 years, Mr. Wexler served as vice president of the company's wholesale tire division, growing it from a single location in Johnson City to four wholesale distribution centers in Roanoke, Va., Asheville, N.C., Knoxville, Tenn., and Johnson City.
Harrison Wexler, Mr. Wexler's brother, also was named executive vice president from vice president.
Lewis Wexler Sr. will continue to serve as chairman and CEO, the company said.
“Lewis Jr. has proven himself in a variety of roles within our company,” Lewis Wexler Sr. said. “He has the skills, experience and desire to continue the growth Free Service Tire Co. has enjoyed for nearly a century of service to the region.”
Free Service Tire operates 11 retail stores.
