EDMONTON, Alberta (Dec. 29, 2005) — Fountain Tire has received a national award for business excellence.
The Edmonton-based dealership was named to “Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies Platinum Club.” Established in 1993, the honor is Canada's leading business awards program, recognizing excellence in Canadian-owned and managed companies with revenues of more than $10 million. Program sponsors are Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, the National Post and Queen's School of Business.
Only 31 Canadian companies achieved the Platinum Club designation this year. Fountain Tire has achieved Platinum Club member status after being a Best Managed winner in 1997 and 2000 and requalifying to maintain its Best Managed status in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002, the dealership said.
“The 'Best Managed' application process activated our first run at formal business planning back in 1994,” said Fountain Tire CEO Brent Hesje. “Though we believed in some form of planning, we learned to value it based on the positive results it delivered. Since then we've evolved to be an organization focused on strategic planning with a specific focus on anticipating future needs of customers and employees.”
