ADDISON, Ill. (Nov. 18, 2005) — The new Lexus GS luxury sport sedan will, depending on vehicle model, feature three types of monotube shock absorbers supplied by KYB Corp.
The original equipment fitment for the Lexus models is “a great credit to the quality, technology and performance of KYB products,” said Mike Howarth, KYB America L.L.C. senior vice president.
The OE shocks include a high-pressure monotube gas shock absorber, an electronically adjustable monotube for vehicles equipped with coil springs, and a separate electronically adjustable monotube gas shock for models equipped with air springs, according to KYB.
The electronic shocks are controlled by the Lexus Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system, which KYB said integrates braking, steering, vehicle traction control (VTC) and traction control (TRAC) systems to simultaneously control ride and handling.
In addition to its OE components, KYB produces a full line of domestic and import ride control products for the replacement market. KYB America is a wholly owned subsidiary of KYB Corp., which has annual worldwide sales in excess of $2.5 billion.
