MERIDIAN, Idaho (Nov. 8, 2005) — Employees of Commercial Tire Inc. recently donated $22,596 to the American Red Cross to help with disaster relief efforts.
A company spokeswoman said half of the funds are being given to the national Red Cross to help with emergencies such as the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. The remainder will be distributed to Red Cross agencies within the states where the donations were collected.
Based in Meridian, the dealership was established in 1968. It has 34 locations—including 22 company owned outlets—across Idaho, Utah, Oregon and Washington, and employs 335. In addition to providing retail and commercial tire-related services, Commercial Tire operates four retread manufacturing plants. The company's president is Bob Schwenkfelder.
Tire Business ranked the firm among North America's largest independent commercial dealerships last year, based on 2004 sales of $28.8 million. Major brands carried by the dealership include Bridgestone, Firestone, General and Yokohama.
