BOWIE, Md. (Nov. 7, 2005) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) unveiled its Tire Pressure Monitoring System Training Program for passenger and light truck tire technicians at the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show last week in Las Vegas.
The program will be part of TIA's basic training series and will enable companies to educate their employees on how different types of systems interact with the vehicle, TIA said. Special attention is given to demounting and mounting procedures when handling the systems.
“The introduction of TPMS technology in new vehicles has already made a significant impact on the tire industry,” TIA President Bob Malerba said. “We recognized the need for employee training years ago and made the commitment to develop an educational resource for our members.”
Each training kit includes a 50-minute video and DVD as well as a 120-page workbook for one technician to receive a TIA certificate of completion. The kit costs $150 for TIA members and $300 for non-members, with quantity discounts available.
