LAS VEGAS (Nov. 4, 2005) — Continental Teves has received a first place "New Product Showcase" award for its new ATE PremiumOne disc brake rotors at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas.

ATE earned first place in the category of "Making It Better," which highlights products that are an improved version of a previous product, through weight savings, durability, fit and finish or problem solving. ATE is a brand of the Continental Teves Automotive Systems Division of Continental A.G.

ATE´s rotors were recognized because they feature a RotorLife wear indicator that gives technicians a visual indicator of when the rotor should be replaced. It also has a groove design that disperses dirt and water and enhances dissipation of heat and gas to reduce brake fade and extend pad life, according to Conti.

In addition, ATE´s rotors are treated with MetaCote, a protective coating that not only helps prevent rust and corrosion, but also provides an attractive finish.

"It´s truly an honor to receive this award for our PremiumOne rotors," said David Mestdagh, director, North American aftermarket, Continental Teves. "It is especially gratifying to receive this award as we take our first steps into the American aftermarket. The recognition further demonstrates the value of having nearly 100 years of OE experience and know-how that we apply to our aftermarket products to meet the demanding needs of the customer for quality and value."

The "New Product Showcase" awards, which premiered at AAPEX this year, were established to recognize aftermarket products that effectively demonstrate the show theme of "We keep them on the road."

The awards comprise nine innovative categories in which products are judged based on how well they enhance vehicle performance, safety, environmental friendliness and driver comfort and convenience. Aftermarket trade press and consumer media were among the judges for the competition.

Continental Teves was one of 300 companies participating in the contest and one of 100 competing in its category. In 2004 the division reported sales of approximately $6 billion.

The AAPEX Show is jointly sponsored by Motor Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA). This is the first year Continental Teves has participated at show.
