LAS VEGAS (Nov. 1, 2005) — Yokohama Tire Corp. formally launched the Advan S.4. tire to round out its premium lineup as well as the Parada Spec-X tire in its “trendsetting” line at the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show in Las Vegas.
Mark Chung, Yokohama's director of strategic marketing, said 21 sizes are available for the S.4., and the remaining 49 will be available by the first half of 2006. The all-season tire takes the place of the AVS dB S2.
With the Advan line, he told Tire Business, Yokohama hits all the major segments—Advan as premium, Geolander for sport-utility vehicles, Avid for broadline and Parada for “trend setting.”
“We are a full line manufacturer,” Mr. Chung said.
In the Parada line, the Spec-X is aimed at consumers interested in comfort, low noise, style and performance.
“Some of those are opposing interests, and to deliver all that truly brings a lot of effort, a lot of technology and a lot of development from our perspective,” a Yokohama spokesman said.
The Parada Spec-X also includes a rim protector sidewall to protect wheels. The tire will be available in 22 sizes for light trucks, SUVs and some larger sedans ranging from 20- to 24-inch rim diameters.
