BOBRUISK, Belarus (Oct. 24, 2005) — Belarussian tire maker JSC Belshina is seeking investors to help it convert a bias-ply commercial tire plant into one for making radial off-road mining tires.
Belshina estimates the project will require about $60 million and take four years.
The proposal calls for the plant to be able to make steel-reinforced radial tires in sizes ranging from 21.00R35 to 36.00R51, which are the sizes needed to fit existing mining dump trucks and perspective mining equipment in central and eastern Europe and Russia, the firm said.
The company has completed a feasibility study of the project, worked out a business plan and specified the production technology and list of the main equipment, according to Belshina Director General Victor Moroz.
Capacity would be expanded beyond the plant's current 16,000 tires a year, the proposal said.
