Pep Boys-Manny, Moe & Jack has shifted responsibilities of two executives to help bolster its weak sales performance in the service sector, which includes tires.
Mark Page, previously senior vice president of service operations, was named senior vice president of parts and tires. He will report to Hal Smith, executive vice president of merchandising and marketing. Mr. Page will have responsibility for inventory selection, purchasing and vendor relationships.
Additionally, Joe Cirelli was promoted to senior vice president of service.
``In response to the weak sales performance of our service center operations...which has continued into this quarter, we have chosen to dedicate two of our most experienced executives to these important areas of our business,'' said Larry Stevenson, chairman and CEO of the Philadelphia-based automotive service chain.
Tires and related services represent about 40 percent of Pep Boys' service center sales.
``Service center operations represents our greatest priority to improve Pep Boys' overall performance,'' Mr. Stevenson said.
Pep Boys operates 593 stores in 36 states and Puerto Rico.
