WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2005) — J.D. Power and Associates said the Michelin brand has ranked highest in four segments of its original equipment (OE) tire customer satisfaction survey.
The survey is based on responses from more than 32,000 new vehicle owners who bought a vehicle between 2003 and 2004. Overall satisfaction of the OE tires is based on performance in five factors, including wearability, appearance, traction, ride and handling. The rankings are based on owners' experiences with their tires during the first year of ownership.
J.D. Power, based in Westlake Village, said Michelin received the highest ranking in each of the four segments, including luxury/sport, mass-market/non-luxury, pickup/full-size van and sport-utility vehicle.
Michelin North America Inc. called the rankings “extremely gratifying.”
“We are delighted that consumers continue to voice their appreciation and support for the technology, quality, performance and value of our Michelin product lines,” said Tom Chubb, vice president of marketing for Michelin's automotive industry division.
In 2004, Michelin ranked highest in three of the four categories, with Goodyear ranking highest in the pickup segment.
