NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 8, 2005)—Bridgestone/ Firestone (BFS) and the Tennessee Titans National Football League team are joining to host a community blood drive and fund-raising campaign for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The blood drive will take place Sept. 17 at the Coliseum in downtown Nashville. The tire maker and the Titans will kick off the fund-raising effort by each contributing $69,149—or $1 for every seat in the Coliseum—to the Nashville Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
Those who can't attend the blood drive may also contribute money at any of the 14 Firestone Complete Auto Care Stores or nine TiresPlus stores in the Nashville area, BFS said.
Those stores, like 2,200 other Firestone-owned tire centers across the U.S., have been designated official cash donation sites for the Red Cross. The Bridgestone Global Group of Companies has donated more than $3 million to the American Red Cross since the 9/11 tragedy, according to the company.
