CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Aug. 29, 2005) — American Tire Distributors (ATD) Inc. has acquired 100 percent of the stock of Wholesale Tire Distributors Inc., expanding ATD's reach across Utah, Idaho and Wyoming as well as parts of Nevada and Colorado.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but ATD said Wholesale Tire Distributors, an American Car Care Centers Inc. member distributor, serves about 2,700 customers from three distribution centers in Salt Lake City, Casper, Wyo., and Boise, Idaho.
The deal with ATD does not include Wholesale Tire Distributors' 10 retail locations operating under the banners of Plains Tire and Battery in Wyoming and Discount Tire and Automotive in Utah.
“Wholesale Tire Distributors is the premier tire distributor in the Inter-Mountain West,” said Richard Johnson, chairman and CEO of ATD. “They have built a solid business based on strong management, efficient operations and, most importantly, an unwavering commitment to customer service.”
The company was founded in 1976 by Larry Nicholls, who also is a founding member of ACCC.
