Yokohama opens Detroit-area OE liaison office

Comments Email

Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) has opened an original equipment liaison office in Farmington Hills, Mich., as a first step toward gaining OE fitments with North American-based car makers.

With the opening of the office in the Detroit suburb, YTC tapped Jeff Carpenter as OE sales and marketing manager, tasked with spearheading the firm's OE effort. ``Beyond logistical considerations, the new office allows us to build better relationships with key manufacturers while helping customers integrate Yokohama tires into their vehicles,'' said Mr. Carpenter, previously an account manager at YTC's Fullerton headquarters.

The office is staffed by engineering and technical sales professionals. YTC does not have any OE fitments on U.S. or Canadian-built cars, and Mr. Carpenter said it's premature to comment on any ongoing projects. The tire maker does, however, have a number of fitments on cars imported from Japan and Europe, he said.
