AKRON (Aug. 16, 2005) — A dozen tire dealers, most who've been in business for 20 years or more, will participate in two panel discussions entitled, “Successful tire dealers share their secrets,” at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) trade show this fall in Las Vegas.
The panels will meet Tuesday, Nov. 1 and Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (room to be announced) as part of the “Tires at Two” seminars sponsored by SEMA and the Tire Industry Association (TIA). Panel hosts will be longtime tire industry executives Don Olson, retired founder of Florida's Don Olson Tire, and Ron Lautzenheiser, formerly of Big O Tires Inc. and now a Big O dealer.
Mr. Lautzenheiser said the seminar is popular because it's “a rare opportunity for any participating dealer to ask questions about any subject to some of the industry's outstanding and successful business people. Most of the panel has been in business more than 20 years.”
Participants in the Nov. 1 panel are: Ben Kravitz of Summit Tire of New England; Dana Foote, a Big O dealer in Loveland, Colo.; Steve Maddox of Anaheim Wheel & Tire, Anaheim, Calif.; Gary Albright of Becker Tire and Treading, Great Bend, Kan.; Kurt Emans, Easter Tire, Lima, Ohio; and Patti Piscione of Carter Tire Elkhart, Ind.
The Nov. 2 panel's members are: Dan Hennelly of The Tire Choice & Total Car Care, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Allen Wilson, a Big O dealer in Las Vegas; Paul Ibbetson of Service Specialist, Carlsbad, Calif.; Ken Brown of Les Schwab Tire Centers Inc. in Newport, Ore.; Dennis Dickson of Indy Tire Centers in Indianapolis; and Charley Gowland with Chabill Tire Service, Morgan City, La.
