BETHESDA, Md. (Aug. 16, 2005) — After a short absence, October again is part of the Car Care Month campaign.
Originally the sole “National Car Care Month,” October was replaced by April in 2003. The Car Care Council, organizers of the “Be Car Care Aware” consumer campaign, decided to put an October event back on the schedule as “Fall Car Care Month” to prepare motorists for winter.
“Fall is an ideal time for a vehicle reality check-up,” said Rich White, executive director of the council. “Summer vacations are over, students are back in school and winter is just around the corner. Promoting maintenance to consumers in October can mean increased sales and service for repair shops and parts stores.”
The event was switched to April in a bid to capture motorists before they head out on summer vacations.
The fall promotional posters and banners have been added to the council's point-of-sale kits. Shops that purchase the kits will be featured in a store locator on www.carcare.org. The kit also includes materials for next April's event.
