COMBINED LOCKS, Wis. (Aug. 2, 2005) — U.S. Tire & Exhaust has bought two wholesale tire businesses in Minnesota that will be transitioned into U.S. Tire's distribution network.
The distributor, a division of U.S. Oil Co. Inc., bought Midstate's Auto Supply Inc. in New Ulm, Minn., and Paul Williams Tire Co. Inc. in Burnsville, Minn. Midstate's also has a location in St. Cloud, Minn., and distributed primarily Cooper, Starfire and Kumho tires. Paul Williams Tire distributed Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, Toyo, Pirelli and various private brand tires.
“Both Midstate's and Paul Williams have been good competitors and suppliers in the automotive aftermarket industry in Minneapolis/St. Paul and the surrounding area,” said Pat Hietpas, vice president and general manager of U.S. Tire. “We will continue to build upon their success with the focus on strong customer service and support needed in today's competitive marketplace.”
Combined Locks-based U.S. Oil is a privately held company. Its automotive parts distribution business has wholesale centers in Combined Locks; Milwaukee; Minneapolis; Glendale Heights and Alsip, Ill.; St. Louis; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
