FULLERTON, Calif. (July 28, 2005) — Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) has opened an original equipment liaison office in Farmington Hills, Mich., as a first step toward gaining OE fitments with North American-based car makers.
Concurrent with the opening of the office the Detroit suburb, Yokohama tapped Jeff Carpenter to be its OE sales and marketing manager, tasked with spearheading the firm's OE effort.
“Beyond logistical considerations, the new office allows us to build better relationships with key manufacturers while helping customers integrate Yokohama tires into their vehicles,” said Mr. Carpenter, previously an account manager at YTC's Fullerton headquarters.
The office is staffed by engineering and technical sales professionals.
YTC does not have any OE fitments on U.S. or Canadian-built cars, and Mr. Carpenter said it is premature to comment on any ongoing projects. Yokohama does, however, have a number of fitments on cars imported from Japan and Europe, he said.
