Tire flatproofing specialist Arnco Inc. celebrated the opening of its new plant July 7 in Berea, a project it said will ``significantly expand its production capability.''
The company, which markets several tire flatproofing formulations, inaugurated the 112,000-sq.-ft. building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. President Larry Carapellotti said Arnco will invest close to $1 million by the time the project is up and running, including about $100,000 to upgrade safety systems in the building that had been idle for about 10 years. The 40-year-old structure previously had been used for chemical blending, which made it perfect for Arnco's needs, he said.
South Gate, Calif.-based Arnco also has manufacturing plants in South Gate and Manchester, England. It operates a 32,000-sq.-ft. warehouse in Chattanooga, Tenn., which the firm lists on its Web site as a future production site.
Also at the ribbon cutting, Mr. Carapellotti named Joe Negrey vice president. Mr. Negrey, previously director of operations, had spearheaded the Berea project.
