Pirelli Tire North America (PTNA) Inc. is taking its step into the world of drifting, supplying tires to leading drifting driver Chris ``Milano'' Kregorian.
The Pasadena, Calif.-based racer recently began using Pirelli's P Zero Nero ultra-high-performance tires on his Nissan 240 SX. Mr. Kregorian decided to switch to Pirelli tires after he tested them for the first time recently at California's Irwindale Speedway, scene of a number of drifting events.
The tire maker quoted him as saying he ``couldn't believe that they gave me just the perfect grip for drifting. Plenty of unbelievable smoke too.''
Drifting-for many years Japan's answer to drag racing-is in only its second year in the U.S. Formula Drift consists of a six-race series and four exhibitions held at Champ Car races.
PTNA makes the P Zero Nero at its plant in Rome.
