MUSCATINE, Iowa (June 15, 2005) — Bandag Inc. has brought its BDV, or Bandag Drive Urban, tread product to the North American market.
Bandag said the tread is designed for drive positions on buses as well as all-wheel positions on pickup and delivery vehicles that face maintenance challenges from wear on corners and curbs. The BDV tread will replace Bandag's Omnibus design, which will be phased out in the next year.
The BDV tread previously has been used extensively in South America and Asia, the Muscatine-based company said.
Bandag said BDV delivered 20 percent better tread wear in field trials compared to the tread it is replacing. BDV offers a 22/32-inch tread depth and is available in 210, 220 and 230 mm sizes.
