ROME, Ga. (June 8, 2005) — Drifting race driver Chris “Milano” Kregorian plans to unveil a new weapon in his slide-and-smoke arsenal this weekend in Houston for the third round of Formula Drift competition.
The Pasadena, Calif.-based racer will slide his Skyline-powered Nissan 240 SX around Houston's Reliant Park on Pirelli P Zero Nero tires, which are manufactured in Pirelli Tire North America (PATNA) Inc.'s plant in Rome, Ga.
PATNA said Mr. Kregorian was introduced to Pirelli tires last week when he tested the Neros for the first time at California's Irwindale Speedway, scene of a number of drifting events. The tire maker quoted him as saying he “couldn't believe that they gave me just the perfect grip for drifting. Plenty of unbelievable smoke too; I can't wait for the Houston competition.”
Drifting— for many years Japan's answer to drag racing—is in only its second year in the U.S. Formula Drift consists of a six-race series and four exhibitions held at Champ Car races.
