Carefree Tire is launching flat-free golf cart and utility tires with a self-sealing, polyurethane liner.
South Gate-based Carefree Tire, a wholly owned subsidiary of Arnco Inc., will introduce QuikGel in its golf and utility cart product lines June 10, according to Bill Hory, Carefree Tire's general manager. He called QuikGel a ``lightweight alternative'' that coats the inner tread with a half-inch layer of polyurethane, allowing a rider to get the same ride comfort as with a regular tire.
Mr. Hory said the product was designed for the original equipment market but instead is being launched for the aftermarket because of OEM price points. The liner can seal punctures up to 5/8 of an inch, he noted.
Carefree Tire initially will offer QuikGel-filled tires in the two most popular sizes: 18x850-8 and 57.0x8.
