CYPRESS, Calif. (May 27, 2005) — Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corp. has signed a major sponsorship agreement with Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Crandon, Wis.
The two-year contract with Crandon includes various signage on both the track and track support vehicles and the Toyo name prominently displayed on a bridge crossing a section of the circuit now known as the “Toyo Tires chicane.”
Crandon hosts two annual CORR (Championship Off Road Racing) Lucas Series events: the “June Brush Run Races featuring the Potawatomi Governor's Cup Challenge” and the “Borg Warner World Championship Off-Road Races” on Labor Day weekend—billed as the premier event for CORR's closed-course off-road racing series.
Travis Roffler, senior director of marketing for Toyo Tire, called Crandon “an excellent facility for spectators” that “always boasts enormous crowds. The challenging layout also makes it popular for viewing on SPEED Channel television broadcasts.” He said Toyo was thrilled to be associated with the raceway.
The track will provide a showcase for Toyo's Open Country M/T on/off road tire. The Cypress-based tire maker said it sponsors nine CORR teams including past champion Kyle Le Duc, Todd Le Duc, Rick Huseman, Kevin Probst, Ross Hoek, Ben Wandahsega, Dave Waldvogel, Larry Gourlie and Josh Hintz.
Meanwhile, Mr. Wandahsega recently piloted his Potawatomi/Toyo Tires 2005 Chevy Silverado truck to his first CORR victory of the season running on Toyo's Open Country M/T tires. Toyo said it was a “remarkable achievement,” seeing as it's the company's first year in CORR truck racing and only it's second CORR race.
