Bowie, MD (May 27, 2005) — Dan Beach, president and CEO of the Tire Alliance Groupe (TAG), has been elected secretary of the Tire Industry Association (TIA) during a TIA board meeting April 22 in Louisville, Kentucky.
He will begin serving in his new post Nov. 1. The secretary position proceeds through the officers' chairs and places Mr. Beach in line for the one-year term as president of the association from November 2008 through October 2009.
Mr. Beach started his tire industry career with Goodyear International Corporation (GIC) in 1968 after earning his MBA in foreign trade from Thunderbird School of International Management. He held numerous sales posts with GIC and served as its sales director in Sweden in 1976 before returning to the U.S. to pursue his goal of starting his own retail business. A year later he opened his first Dob's Tire & Auto Center in Ventura, Calif., expanding the chain over the next 16 years to 62 stores and three wholesale tire centers in five states.
In October 1993 he merged his dealership with Compton, Calif.- based RPJ (Parnelli Jones) Tire Co. and operated 96 retail outlets and six wholesale tire centers in six states. He sold his interest in that company in March 1996. In May of that year he joined TAG as its president/CEO. The Oxnard, Calif.-based group has since become one of the largest buying groups in North America and now represents more than 500 independent tire businesses operating more than 1,750 retail locations throughout all 50 states, Canada and parts of Mexico.
Mr. Beach began his current term on TIA's board in November 2003.
