NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 11, 2005) — Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. (BSAH) has presented the American Red Cross with a check for $100,000 to support the relief organization's International Response Fund.
BSAH Chairman and CEO Mark Emkes made the donation May 10 in Washington, D.C., to Marsha J. Evans, American Red Cross president and CEO.
“The Red Cross International Response Fund has provided and continues to provide invaluable assistance to aid the tsunami victims,” Mr. Emkes said. “The Bridgestone Americas team is happy to support this effort, knowing that it will benefit the long-term growth and recovery of affected communities.”
Bridgestone Corp., the parent company of BSAH, also recently donated approximately $900,000 to the Japan Red Cross to support additional relief efforts following last December's tsunami disaster. Nashville-based BSAH said that since 1998 it and Bridgestone have donated more than $2.5 million to the Red Cross to support various programs.
