LOUISVILLE, Ky. (April 21, 2005) — The Tire Industry Association (TIA) has negotiated a deal with Comdata Corp. to provide TIA members with Comdata's Fleet Team Web-based commercial fleet management at “favorable” rates.
Fleet Team is a purchase-based service that allows dealers to offer their customers a fleet maintenance system covering parts, maintenance and repair services at no cost, TIA said.
In essence, Comdata will base its pricing for TIA members on the aggregate transaction volume of all participating members, thus giving individual dealers volume price discounts usually available only to large national or regional groups with high sales volumes, TIA said.
With Fleet Team, each transaction generates a “Level III” purchasing report—which Comdata called the most detailed level of purchasing reporting available—as well as a maintenance record on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis. This process allows fleet managers to track maintenance activity and costs and schedule reminders for scheduled maintenance.
“Fleet Team…supports better cash flow, offers our members' customers a comprehensive management tool at no cost and presents a strong marketing point of difference as our members look for new business,” said Roy Littlefield, TIA executive vice president.
