FONATANA, Calif. (April 15, 2005) — Kumho Tire USA Inc. plans to expand its motorsports involvement with an entrance into professional drifting.
Enjuku Racing, based in Florida, will compete on Kumho Ecsta MX tires in events sanctioned by Formula D, World Drift Challenge and D1GP. The tires will debut on the team's vehicles April 16 at the Formula D event at Wall Speedway in New Jersey. Enjuku Racing runs primarily Nissan 240SX cars.
“We've been evaluating the sport of drifting for the last few years,” said Rudy Consolacion, Kumho's motorsports manager. “Drifting is really popular among import car enthusiasts, and Kumho is a popular brand with that crowd. We were looking for the right time and the right opportunity to get involved with drifting, and the right time and opportunity have arrived.”
