COLUMBUS, Ohio (April 11, 2005) — The Ohio House of Representatives is proposing to double the state's tire disposal fee to $2 as a means of helping to balance the state budget.
The tire disposal fee, which was originally designed to further the research and development of scrap tires, will now be used to fund the Ohio Department of Natural Resources' litter and recycling program, according to the Ohio Tire Dealers & Retreaders Association (OTDRA).
The OTDRA is asking tire dealers to contact their state legislators soon if they find this kind of tax helpful.
