GLADEVILLE, Tenn. (March 28, 2005) — Nineteen-year-old rookie Reed Sorenson gave Discount Tire Co.'s NASCAR Busch Series team its first victory Saturday, winning the Pepsi 300 at Nashville Superspeedway.
Mr. Sorenson, making only the 11th start of his Busch Series career, started from the pole after setting the fastest qualifying speed, also for the first time. He led the 225-lap race three times for 197 laps and won by 14.4 seconds—about half a lap on the 1.33-mile track.
The Discount Tire car, a Dodge Charger, is campaigned by Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, a partnership of racing teams. The team is scheduled to compete at 35 Busch Series events this year.
