NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 25, 2005) — Transportation logistics provider Ryder System Inc. has renewed tire and retread supply contracts with Bridgestone/Firestone and Bandag Inc. for the firm's 14,000-plus vehicles.
Bridgestone/Firestone has partnered with Ryder since 1990; during that time, BFS said, Ryder has bought more than 4.9 million original equipment and replacement tires from Bridgestone/Firestone—an average of nearly 900 per day.
BFS did not disclose the length of the contract extension.
Ryder sources reteads from Bandag through independent Bandag franchisees and Bandag's own TDS outlets. BFS operates 20 Bandag retread plants through its GCR Tires subsidiary.
“This contract symbolizes a true collaboration wherein three companies, Bridgestone/Firestone, Ryder and Bandag, utilize their strengths to deliver remarkable solutions for our customers,” said Singh Ahluwalia, president of commercial products, truck and bus tires, for BFS.
