LAS VEGAS (March 21, 2005) — Michelin North America Inc.'s Earthmover Group has unveiled a Total Cost of Ownership tool as well as a new size in its X-Haul line and a new tire at the 2005 ConExpo-Con/Agg show.
Michelin said the cost tool is intended to show customers how tire selection affects their company's productivity and bottom line. It includes repair, downtime, wear and initial price. The tool also graphically illustrates the cost savings and return on investment of certain tire selections.
“For decades we have been communicating that Michelin Earthmover products offer the best overall value on the market,” said Tomas Bennett, market segment manager for Michelin. “Our initial price point can be higher than other brands, however the cost of ownership between a Michelin tire and other brands can be substantial. Now we have a tool that can prove to our customers that they are getting what they pay for and that the higher up-front price point is well worth the cost and investment.”
At the trade show, Michelin also launched the X-Super Terrain AD radial tire for dump trucks, scrapers and loaders. The E4 radial is designed to deliver long life, shoulder and sidewall protection and operator ride comfort.
The tire maker also added the 24.00R35 size to its X-Haul line. The larger tire offers protection in severe condition and allows for improved speed capability for haul trucks, Greenville, S.C.-based Michelin claimed.
