TEXARKANA, Ark. (March 18, 2005) — A local judge denied Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s request for a temporary injunction against striking union workers at its Texarkana plant, a court official said.
A clerk at the Miller County Circuit Court told Tire Business that further hearings on the issue could be held soon. She said Findlay, Ohio-based Cooper said in its March 16 filing that striking members of United Steelworkers of America (USWA) Local 752 have obstructed and harassed traffic around the plant. Union members went on strike on March 12 at midnight.
A Cooper spokeswoman said the tire maker does not comment on union negotiations or developments.
