AKRON (March 8, 2005) — European airframe manufacturer Airbus S.A.S. has extended a multi-year contract with Goodyear for the supply of aviation tires for six wide-body and single-aisle Airbus aircraft models.
Goodyear will supply Flight Leader tires for the Airbus A300 and 310 models as well as Flight Radial and Flight Leader tires for the single-aisle family, the A318, A319, A320 and A321.
“This contract is significant because the A320 family lands more frequently on radial aviation tires than any other segment of the jet transport business,” said Donald Roulett, global marketing manager for Goodyear.
Airlines operating the A320 on Goodyear tires include Lufthansa, Air Canada, Mexicana, All Nippon Airways, Aeroflot and Jetstar.
Goodyear did not disclose the value of the contract extension.
Goodyear will supply the tires from its plants in Danville, Va., and Bangkok, Thailand. The tire supply contract is between Airbus France and Goodyear Nederland B.V.
