AKRON (March 1, 2005) — Goodyear has increased the price of its pre-cure tread rubber and cushion gum by up to 6 percent along with other increases, effective March 1.
In addition, Goodyear's strip and slab rubber prices will rise by up to 5 percent. Under the Ultima brand, pre-cure tread rubber will rise up to 8 percent and strip and slab rubber will increase up to 7 percent.
The Akron-based tire maker said the increases were necessitated by rising raw materials costs, higher energy charges and rising transportation costs to produce tread rubber products. The compnay last increased prices for retread products on Oct. 1.
