AKRON (Feb. 18, 2005) — Goodyear will offer a $50 money-back promise on new tires sold with its DuraSeal commercial tire technology if the sealant doesn't seal punctures up to a quarter-inch in diameter.
The deal also offers a $25 offer on a tire's first retread. Sidewall punctures are not covered, the tire maker said. The new technology is designed to allow truck drivers to continue driving after a tire is punctured. The tire can remain in service until it is retreaded.
“(The offer) should seal the deal for truck fleets who face the expense of tire repairs and equipment downtime,” said Bethann Barchalk, team leader for Goodyear mixed-service tires.
DuraSeal technology initially will be available in Goodyear's Unisteel G287 MSA and G288 MSA mixed-service tires. The technology is particularly aimed at logging, landfill, construction, road building and other severe service applications.
