MINNEAPOLIS (Feb. 11, 2005) —Tom Gegax, founder and former “Head Coach” of the Tires Plus tire retailing chain, has published a book to help executives and entrepreneurs juggle profits and stress.
The book, titled “By the Seat of Your Pants, The No-Nonsense Management Guide,” is due for release in April. It details advice and strategies Mr. Gegax said he learned as CEO of Tires Plus on how to grow a sustainable business without being overwhelmed by deadly stress. During his tenure at Tires Plus, Mr. Gegax radically changed his management style after experiencing a downward spiral in company profits, going through a divorce and being diagnosed with cancer—all in the same year.
Mr. Gegax operated Tires Plus for 24 years before selling it to Morgan Tire & Auto Inc. in 2000, which then sold the combined dealership to Bridgestone/Firestone a year later. He now operates Gegax Management Systems in Minneapolis and criscrosses the country consulting, conducting seminars and delivering keynote speeches. He also is author of “Winning in the Game of Life: Self-Coaching Secrets for Success.”
“By the Seat of Your Pants” is published by Expert Publishing Inc. and will retail for $47, hardcover.
