CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Feb. 9, 2005) — Continental Tire North America (CTNA ) Inc. will recall 50 Continental and General truck tires as part of an issue arising from a joint venture involving Yokohama Tire Corp., Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. and Continental.
Toyo also announced a recall of 24 tires, while Yokohama is recalling 69 commercial tires—for a total of 143 tires from the issue.
The tires were produced by GTY Tire Co., a partnership between the three tire makers, at a plant in Mount Vernon, Ill. The affected tires were all produced in mid-December and were isolated shortly after production, limiting their distribution. The companies have not received any reports of tire failures or property damage claims.
The recalled tires have a DOT code ending in 5004, signifying the one week of production, CTNA said. Purchasers are eligible for free replacements. For more information, call (800) 847-3349.
