SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (Feb. 1, 2005) — Automotive market data provider R.L. Polk & Co. has introduced a product suite it claims will allow manufacturers and retailers of aftermarket commercial vehicles to gain a more accurate picture of overall demand based on geographic location and specific product categories.
Southfield-based Polk said its Commercial Aftermarket Solutions will offer exclusive fact-based parts consumption models covering products including tires, engine oil, filters and brakes, with each model providing “guidance in answering many of your toughest business questions.”
Information in the tire category, for instance, includes size and type (new or retread). U.S. geographic data is compiled by state, county, designated market area and metropolitan statistical area, Polk said.
The company—which collects and interprets global data and provides automotive information and marketing solutions—claimed the new models will help businesses in a number of areas, including:
* Accurately analyze component demand;
* Plan inventory and sales strategy;
* Identify new market opportunities;
* Take advantage of market conditions; and
*Stay ahead of the competition.
The data Polk gathers will be updated quarterly, it said, and will cover commercial aftermarket demand for mid-range, medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses. The information is available via Polk's Web-based system or in a report form on a subscription basis. The company's Web site is at www.polk.com.
