FULLERTON, Calif. (Jan. 24, 2005) — Yokohama Tire Corp. took three grand prize winners in its “Race-to-Relax” sweepstakes to the ESPN Russell Racing Drivers School and the Lodge at Sonoma resort.
The driving school, in Sonoma, Calif., gave the winners instruction in open-wheel racecars and a chance to race on Infineon Raceway. The winners also received a selection of massages and spa treatments at the Sonoma resort.
The promotion was aimed at pushing the company's Avid H4s/V4s tire, the Fullerton-based company said. Yokohama also awarded 10 first-place prizes of a home entertainment system and 10 second-place prizes of a set of four Yokohama passenger or light truck tires to culminate the sweepstakes, which was launched last spring.
“The response from this promotion was much greater than we expected,” said Art Michalik, director of marketing communications for Yokohama.
