NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Jan. 10, 2005) — Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. has donated $230,000 through its Bridgestone/Firestone Trust Fund to help several Akron and surrounding area non-profit organizations and charities.
The Nashville-based tire maker said it had donated more than $4.2 million in 2004 to charities across the country that address children's issues, education initiatives and environmental programs. Akron organizations that received contributions in 2004 include Junior Achievement; Akron Community Service Center & Urban League; Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges Inc.; Project GRAD Akron; Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank; Boy Scouts of America; Akron Marathon Corp.; Community Hall Foundation Inc.; YMCA; YWCA; and Ohio Ballet.
“We're very proud the Bridgestone/Firestone Trust Fund is able to provide assistance to so many organizations in the Akron community and surrounding area,” said Christine Karbowiak, chair of the Trust Fund and vice president of public affairs for the tire maker. “It's rewarding to know that we're able to give back to our various communities and become even more a part of them, especially when they have given so much to us.”
