MADISON, Tenn. (Jan. 7, 2005) — Jerry Southergill, a retread industry veteran with more than 30 years´ experience, has joined Marangoni Tread N.A. as a retread service technician.
Marangoni CEO Bill Sweatman said Mr. Southergill previously held the positions of Bandag retread plant manager with Pete's Tire Barn, Oliver retread plant manager with City Tire Co., manager of retread manufacturing technology for Bridgestone/Firestone, and regional retread service technician for Goodyear.
In a prepared statement, Mr. Southergill said he was “excited to be joining the Marangoni family of associates and dealers. Before committing to the Marangoni team, I surveyed many industry leaders and Marangoni dealers. Without exception, they were excited about the future of Marangoni and referred to them as a high-class, professional group that was positioned for some healthy growth in an otherwise stagnant industry.”
He said he is “looking forward to contributing to Marangoni's growth by helping to support their dealers from the technical side with my 30 plus years of experience in many different aspects of the retreading industry.”
Mr. Southergill will work out of Marangoni's Madison headquarters.
Last July, Marangoni officially opened its $10 million, 50,000-sq.-ft. tread rubber plant in Madison, where it manufactures the company's patented Ringtread spliceless precured tread rubber. A second phase expansion for the facility is planned that will double output by 2006.
