AUGUSTA, Ga. (Jan. 5, 2005) — Jim Whitehead, owner of Jim Whitehead Tire & Auto in Augusta, will be sworn in Jan. 10 as a state senator in Georgia.
Mr. Whitehead was elected to the state senate to represent the 24th District, which includes all or parts of Columbia, Elbert, Glascock, Lincoln, McDuffie, Warren and Wilkes counties.
“It is my desire to serve my constituents in an honorable, moral and trustworthy manner,” Mr. Whitehead, a Republican, said in a statement.
Jim Whitehead Tire & Auto opened its Augusta outlet in 1985 and recently opened a second store in Evans, Ga.
Mr. Whitehead also has served as a county commissioner and was chairman for the Augusta chapter of the Red Cross, among other civic roles.
